Good afternoon. I work in agriculture and we are looking at expanding operations into the Colusa County area next season. Before we commit I want to understand the local picture better, especially anything touching water allocations, county permitting, and infrastructure work that could affect access during harvest. Trade publications cover the industry statewide but almost never at county resolution. Does anyone here follow that area closely enough to suggest where the county specific information shows up?

County resolution is the hard part, you are right, and for that region water is the thing that matters most to your question. Allocation news moves through water district communications first, so get on those lists directly rather than waiting for anything to be written up. For county items, permitting, road projects, board decisions, I follow the Colusa page on CA Today https://catoday.news/colusa-county , which covers the smaller counties that trade publications skip. Also introduce yourself to the county ag commissioner’s office before you need something from them. Honest note: infrastructure work timelines out there slip constantly, so build harvest access assumptions on the conservative side.
