Hey all. Our accounting office in Midtown has twelve people, and our phone setup is a mess: old desk phones, a carrier contract that keeps going up, and calls dropping during tax season, which is the worst possible time. We want to move to VoIP so people can take calls from their laptops and cell phones, especially when working from home. Nobody on our team is an IT person. Has anyone switched a small office to VoIP recently? Budget matters, but reliability matters more. Who did the setup and how painful was the transition?

We moved our insurance agency to VoIP last year with almost the same headcount, and it was less painful than I feared. We hired 4Wires because they also did our cabling years ago, and they handled the whole thing, from the system design to installing the phones and setting up the apps so calls follow you to a laptop or cell. They ported our numbers over a weekend, so we did not lose a single call. During busy weeks the call quality has been solid. Support is 24/7, and they can connect remotely when something is off. My advice is to time the switch for after tax season, not in the middle. Pricing was not listed anywhere, we got a quote after a short consultation. Do you also need a call queue for the front desk?
