Law Offices of Crystal Moroney, P.C. Called Again – Red Flags Everywhere
-
So I’m back with an update on the Law Offices of Crystal Moroney, P.C. situation. First off, thank you to everyone who commented on my last post – your advice really helped me keep a level head.
Here’s what happened since we last talked. I finally got that letter they promised. It arrived about a week after I spoke to them on the phone. But honestly, it raised more questions than it answered.
The letter was pretty basic. It listed the original creditor’s name (which I honestly don’t even recognize) and a balance. But that was about it. No detailed breakdown of charges, no original account number, no proof that this debt is actually mine. Just a generic form letter that looked like it could have been printed from a template.
That felt like a red flag to me. I’ve been reading about debt validation and from what I understand, they’re supposed to provide actual documentation if you request it – not just a one-page letter saying “you owe this.”
So I decided to take action. I drafted my own debt validation letter and sent it via certified mail to the address in New City, NY. I specifically asked for:
The original contract with my signature
A complete accounting of how they arrived at this balance
Proof that they have the legal right to collect this debt in my state
The date of the last payment on the original account
I also included a statement that they should cease all phone communication and only contact me in writing going forward. I made sure to keep copies of everything for my records.
Now I’m waiting. The tracking shows the letter was delivered three days ago, but I haven’t heard anything back yet. I’m curious to see how they respond – or if they respond at all.
In the meantime, the phone calls have actually stopped since they got my letter. That’s a relief, but I’m not sure if it’s because they’re preparing a proper response or because they’re moving on to an easier target.
Here’s what’s still bothering me, though. I checked their BBB profile and noticed a few complaints from other people describing similar experiences. Some said they were contacted about debts they didn’t recognize. Others mentioned that the firm was hard to get a straight answer from. That lines up with what I’m experiencing.
I also looked into whether they’re actually licensed to collect in my state. From what I can tell, they might be, but I’m not entirely sure. The addresses and contact info seem to check out, but something about the way they handle things still feels off to me.
I’ve also been wondering about the statute of limitations on this. If this debt is as old as I suspect it might be, it could be past the point where they can legally sue me for it. But I’m not sure – that’s something I need to figure out.
Has anyone else requested debt validation from this firm? How long did it take them to respond? And did they actually provide proper documentation or just more vague letters?
Also, I’m starting to consider whether I should talk to a consumer protection attorney. Not because I want to sue or anything dramatic, but just to have someone on my side who knows the law. I don’t want to make a mistake that could hurt me later.
One thing I’ve learned through all this – don’t ignore these calls. I almost did, and I’m glad I didn’t. At least now I’m being proactive rather than reactive. But it’s still draining, you know? Every time the phone rings, I tense up. Even though they’ve stopped calling, I still feel like I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop.
I’ll keep you all posted on what happens next. If nothing else, maybe my experience can help someone else who’s going through the same thing.
Thanks again for the support. It helps knowing I’m not alone in dealing with this stuff.

Requesting full debt validation in writing was a sensible step, especially when the original creditor and account details are unclear. Keeping records and checking the statute of limitations should help avoid costly mistakes, while another online option can be found at prontobet?
