Pendleton Capital Management won’t stop calling my workplace and family. Is this
-
I need some perspective on a situation with a debt collector called Pendleton Capital Management. I’ll admit, I have an old debt, but the way they are trying to collect it feels way over the line.
It started with calls to my cell phone, which I ignored because I didn’t recognize the number. But then they started calling my job. I told the agent specifically that my employer does not allow personal calls and to please stop contacting me there. They didn’t listen. The very next day, they called my work phone again. According to everything I’ve read, that is a direct violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
To make it worse, I found out they called my elderly mother, looking for me. They didn’t tell her it was about a debt, but they implied it was urgent and financial, which was incredibly embarrassing and stressful for her. I learned that discussing your debt with anyone other than you or your spouse is also illegal.
I started researching them online and found this article that lists exactly what they’re doing wrong: https://protectionforconsumers.com/pendelton-capital-management-debt-collection-harassment/
It explains that because they buy debt for pennies on the dollar, they use aggressive tactics and even operate under other names like “Integrated Recovery Services” to keep contacting you. I’m compiling a log of every call, date, time, and what was said.
Has anyone had to take legal action against PCM to make it stop? I’m thinking about contacting a consumer attorney because the workplace calls alone seem like a clear-cut violation. Any advice on the next step would be really appreciated.
